Mountain Lake

This loop is just like the New River route, except for a 14 mile detour over a 4000 ft mountain. It climbs up the so-called "back side" of Mountain Lake, and then descends the "regular" way. Legend has it that this hefty climb was used the Tour DuPont years ago. Notice on this profile how small Gap and Brush mountains (~40 mi) appear compared to the big mountain, and how large they appear on other route profiles!

Distance: 45.4 mi.
Climbing Elevation: 6377 ft.
