Whitegate

Thanks to Dan Repella for providing the description, cues, map and profile for this route.

I came up with this little ditty due to my obsession with the Amish. This route will take you from Blacksburg down to the New River, through Eggleston, down Rt.42 in Giles County to the White Gate Community. The White Gate Community has been settled by Amish Families, and if you time the ride properly on a Sunday, you may be able to draft behind a Horse & Buggy chuck full of fine Amish folks returning from Sunday Church. Give them a smile, give them a wave. Ask them what they think about Floyd Landis (he was Mennonite too). Admire their simple way of life and conservative clothing. They will probably look at you in your tighty, tight spandex and think who is the truly weird one?

This is a ride of about 81 miles, rolling terrain, no big mountains, a fair amount of Green County/Town Sprint Signs, and Blue Virginia By-way signs which we dubbed as the "Inter-Giro Competition". If you do not know the Inter-Giro, shame on you, look it up!
